A battery powered Bluetooth speaker with karaoke
0:03
Let's check this out. Dave Taylor here with this
0:14
This rather massive speaker is the Vague Way karaoke machine. It's a battery powered Bluetooth speaker that's waterproof and you can take to the park, to the gym
0:25
You can have it outdoors. You can have it by the pool and you're going to love it
0:29
The sound is actually really darn good. In fact, let's not talk about the sound
0:34
Let me just grab my Bluetooth paired iPhone, and let's play some music
0:41
Now, let's turn the volume up. And how loud does it get
0:48
It gets pretty dang loud. Is it loud enough that you're going to be able to get everyone in the gym enjoying your music
0:55
Well, I use the word enjoying loosely, but yes, will work. But where this really gets fun is it also has a pair of microphones that are
1:04
wireless. So if I turn on a microphone, I can just use the microphone to talk. And yes, you
1:11
can adjust the reverb. But where this obviously gets more fun is if I talk over the music
1:20
So we have the music and we have me talking over it. So obviously I could sing over it
1:25
So such fun. And you know, both microphones. phones will do the same thing. So let me go ahead and mute this and pause that. So there's lots to look at here. So it's a 200 watt speaker with dual 3 inch tweeters and a 6.5 inch woofer. So this is a lot of sound coming out of this thing. And it's Bluetooth. You can also put a micro SD card in if you want to just preload it with music. Or you can plug in something via a USB or an AUX cord. So there's a lot of different ways
1:59
to actually get music to it. Not only that, but since it is big and since it has a big battery
2:05
you can use that USB that's down here on this rubber covered set of ports. And why is it covered
2:12
with this rubber seal so that it's waterproof? Makes sense. But you can use the USB here to charge
2:18
your phone too. So if you're really desperate, you can have your phone charging off of this
2:24
while you using Bluetooth to listen to music That pretty nice Now including both of these wireless microphones and a remote control And this remote control you going to need to study Unfortunately their documentation is not very good
2:39
but you can just sort of learn through experimentation, what does what
2:42
and you can adjust like the volume of the microphone versus the volume of the music
2:48
There's a fair bit you can adjust on this front panel. This is also complicated
2:52
Here's an illustration of what they show in terms of all the different buttons and everything
2:56
lots and lots you can do, including one thing that's really nice is you can actually adjust this
3:03
LED light show, including turning it off if it's just not something you like. But for me
3:08
I actually kind of like it. It's fun. And there are different modes that will get it to be more
3:13
in time with the pulse or beat of the music. But you know, you're going to have to do a little
3:19
bit of experimentation to figure that out. It is waterproof. It is obviously rechargeable. And unfortunately
3:26
one of the things I don't like about it is you have to use this adapter to charge it
3:32
It does not charge via micro USB or USB 3 or anything
3:36
So if you lose this charger, you're kind of out of luck. But once it's fully charged, it'll play for six to ten hours depending on the volume you use
3:44
So that means just keep this at your house or keep this in the cabin you have by the lake
3:50
and then take this down to the dock and you got six, seven, eight hours of music listening
3:55
that is plenty. So that's really nice. Now, one of the other things they talk about is they talk about their
4:01
karaoke feature. And they say that with that enabled, you can actually remove the vocals from music and then
4:09
sing along. I found zero success with that. I could not get any vocals out of any of the music I listened to
4:16
So instead, I did what a lot of people do is I went over to YouTube and I went to Sing King. It's a channel
4:22
and they have thousands and thousands of tracks minus the vocals plus a display that's synchronized with the music of what the vocals are at any given point
4:34
So it really does turn things into a karaoke machine. If you did that with your phone or your iPad and then Bluetooth put the music through this, you would be ready to rock and roll or country or blues or jazz or whatever it is that you enjoy
4:48
So, you know, this device says it can do that. wasn't really finding much success with that, but there's other ways to get
4:55
karaoke friendly music if that's what you want. But even if you don't want to do that
4:59
if you just want to be able to listen to different music like maybe some chill music And of course you can do that And then if you were for example a yoga instructor you could be like all right everyone now
5:16
put your feet above your head and lay quietly with your eyes closed
5:24
That might also explain why I'm not a yoga instructor. But all of that works really well
5:30
there is no option for wireless or headset microphones or anything. I mean, you know, there's finite limitations and capabilities this thing has
5:38
but for what it can do, it does it really well. I really like this just as a speaker, and with the microphone, turn the reverb down
5:47
and you could use this at an event, for example, or even if you were at a protest or something
5:53
you could be using this to explain your perspective really loud. Now, it is heavy
5:58
So let me give you some dimensions. So the length of it is 19 inches, and then it's 8.7 inches around
6:05
If I show you an end, you'll see what I mean. So it's 8.7, about 8, sorry, 9 inches around
6:12
And it's 11 pounds. So it is not the lightest speaker in the world
6:16
Fortunately, it does have this shoulder strap, which makes it really easy and comfortable to carry
6:22
assuming you can carry 11 pounds on your shoulder, which most people can do. So it's really everything about it other than the price
6:29
and it is a fairly pricey device. But you're getting a really nice sound out of this thing
6:35
and the microphones and everything. But now, before I get to the price, let me save
6:40
So one of the limitations I have that I didn't like is the fact that you can't charge it
6:44
through an arbitrary charging source. You have to use their charger, which means if you lose that, you're kind of in a pickle
6:52
The interface is definitely what an engineer would design. There is no effort really put here
6:58
to make this easier to work. understand. But more importantly, with the remote and the microphones, there's no storage, there's no
7:06
bag, there's no little Velcro strip on the back with maybe a little canvas bag you can put
7:11
So if you want to take this with all of the accessories, you've got a lot of things to carry and
7:17
keep track of. And I was really hoping when I saw it this big, I had some vision that there was a
7:22
secret hatch that I could slide a microphone in and that would make it really easy and portable
7:27
but that's just not what they've done so you know if you want to have a really big
7:33
loud speaker you can take with you outside and it waterproof and everything this definitely gives you that feature but a lot of it is really about the microphones and everything so that really great but now you going to have to carry the microphones separately Maybe that just me
7:48
but I was really hoping there would be some sort of unified concept of how you would
7:53
transport all of that without losing pieces. Maybe that's in version two of this product
8:00
But be that as it may, there's a lot to like here. There's a lot to really like
8:05
like about having this big powerful portable speaker that can definitely give you pleasant music
8:11
at your little area at the beach or at the pool or can really power like honestly like the whole
8:17
gymnasium so that everyone playing volleyball can enjoy the same pop music that you are so as long as
8:23
everyone likes that this definitely can push out that much power so really nice really flexible now
8:28
before i get to the price let me ask if you can subscribe to my channel just click or tap on that
8:33
subscribe button and give me some feedback. I obviously sidestepped the whole issue of actually singing
8:39
some karaoke here and I think you should give me a thumbs up for doing that. But more importantly
8:45
I don't have the rights to that music so I can't do that anyway. So I'm not exactly sure how
8:49
sites like Sing King get away with that, but I think it's because they don't try to actually monetize
8:54
anything. So that's a smart move on their part. But be that as it may, give me some feedback. Appreciate
8:59
that. Great. Okay. This is the vague way. karaoke machine model Vs 663 and it's a fairly substantial 18999 at amazon.com that is a pretty penny for this device now
9:17
if you're going to use it as intended with the microphones and you're going to be portable and you want to have
9:24
great volume and everything then this is a pretty solid option but if you're just looking for a big loud
9:29
remote speaker there might be some other options that are a little more affordable
9:33
and push out, if not as much music, then pretty darn close for a lower price tag
9:39
So that's what I got, and I think I'm going to get back to doing it through this
9:46
So I'll catch you in my next video
