Pass through first class on an airplane and everyone's wearing fancy Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) headphones. But you don't have to spend $500 or more for ANC: The newly redesigned MPOW H5 ANC Wireless Headphones offer up the same technology and surprisingly good sound, all for well under $50.
Tech Expert Dave Taylor of https://www.AskDaveTaylor.com/ auditions and reviews the MPOW H5 Wireless Headphones and finds them surprisingly good, and doubly so at their highly affordable budget price...

You won't believe the price of these active noise canceling headphones
0:03
Let's check them out. Dave Taylor here, and I'm looking at these
0:14
These are the M-POW-H-5 wireless headphones, and they are remarkably good. And when you find out how much they cost
0:23
they are really quite remarkably good. But let's get there. First off, dual 40-millimeter drivers with a six
0:29
CSR Bluetooth chip, which gives you Bluetooth 4.1, not 5.0, probably less
0:36
important with a headphone than it is with earbuds. And it also has CVC
0:40
6 microphone circuit chip, so it gives you actually the ability to make
0:44
phone calls and actually talk to people. Now, sound is not fantastic
0:48
when they're listening to you, but it's certainly functional, and I did
0:52
have a couple of calls with these on and no one actually said, can you talk up or what, or I can't
0:58
hear you, or you're really far away. All those things people complain about, right
1:02
Didn't have any of that. Now, they are active noise canceling, and that's a completely independent circuit, which is one of those design errors that I think is like, I'm not a huge fan of
1:13
But it is ANC gives you about a 20 decibel noise reduction, and that's meaningful
1:18
Usually that's down at the low end, right? So all the rumbles and all the just sort of street noise or jet engine noise and all that gets rid of those
1:27
But the problem with having it is a separate circuit with a separate button control is that you can forget to turn it off
1:33
And so if you leave your ANC on but turn the headphones off it still using power which means that in a day or two when you pick them up again or even like five or six hours later they might be dead That would be a drag Now having said that they do have a 30 battery and comes with a wire So if your battery dies or you just prefer not using a battery you can use these as wired headphones
1:59
Pretty smart design. And the ear pads, there's lots of flexibility and lots of swivel
2:05
And so there's, you know, adjustable height and all this. Padding on the top
2:11
the ear pieces are nice. They use what they call protein ear pads
2:15
I'm not sure this would add protein to my diet if I ate it, but that's probably not what they mean, right
2:20
So it's okay. Now, on the, let's see, let me get this right
2:24
on the right ear is the ANC on and off and the plug for the wire
2:29
And quite frankly, you're probably not going to be turning it on and off a lot while you're actually wearing them
2:35
You'll just turn it on and leave them, right? So the trick is, of course, to remember to turn it off when you're done
2:40
So you'll have to get into that. Now, on the left here, you have the micro USB charging plugs
2:46
They are chargeable. And comes with the wire, if you don't have a lot of micro USB cables already
2:53
And then it has three buttons, which are exactly the same three buttons that you would find on an inline controller
2:59
But of course, they're on the headphones themselves. And my experience is that they are perfectly easy to use if you have them on
3:06
And, you know, I just use sort of slide my thumb around. to orient where the buttons are
3:12
And then I can control on, off, pause, play, next previous, volume up, volume down
3:17
All those features, pretty straightforward. Here's a close-up. If you want to see what those buttons look like, nothing, you know, super earth-shattering here
3:24
Pretty standard design. So 30-hour battery. If you use this wired then you can use the microphone So that important potentially If you just say well I going to just use these as wired headphones then you not going to be making calls on them So worth knowing
3:41
Now, one thing I think that's really funny is the M-POW page says
3:45
quote, suitable for most sizes of head. And I have a larger head compared to many of my friends
3:53
And these are fine. They're comfortable. You know, are they a little snug
3:58
Yeah, they are. So after an hour or two, you might notice that, but they're really barely tight at all
4:05
And the more you wear them, the lucid they're going to get. Not a lot, but just enough that they'll become comfortable for you
4:11
Which leads us, oh, well, actually, let me just almost, but comes with a little carrying bag, which is nice
4:18
And like I said, the wire to use it wired, and it comes with the charging cable
4:23
All very good. Finish quality is nice. They're, you know, they are somewhat plastic
4:29
This part is all plastic, but it has a nice feel to it, and I think they'd last pretty well
4:35
But again, you know, when we get to the price, it'll be like, at this price, it's not like these need to
4:39
last many, many years. But let's talk about the sound, because I was really impressed by the sound
4:46
They are bass heavy, so there's a rich bass that comes out on whatever you're listening to
4:51
But all in all, there's a pretty nice sound out of these. And the highs are nice
4:57
The mid range is definitely, you know, sounding good. I put on some jazz, some just studio like quartet jazz and sounded beautiful
5:05
I was really impressed with that. And then kick on the ANC, even if you're not in a noisy environment, and it acts a little bit like it's an amp or something
5:13
So it actually boosts and increases the music a little bit. And boy it sounds really nice Now if you listening and you want to have like a flat studio response these are probably not going to be your headphones but these give you a nice punchy sound
5:29
And if you want to wear these while you're skateboarding or while you're biking or while you're at work
5:34
and you just don't want to hear the people around you, these can be an excellent solution
5:39
And the thing is, the price is pretty whack. But before we get to the price, let me ask if you can subscribe to my channel
5:46
Really appreciate that. Cool. Now, MPOW H5 wireless headphones, 3779 at Amazon.com
5:56
So under 40 bucks for active noise-canceling headphones with good sound and 30-hour battery life
6:03
Pretty hard to go wrong with these, really. I mean, you know, if you're on the plane, if you actually commute and you're on a train or in a car or something, all of that, those are great environments for noise-canceling
6:14
But even without that, these are just nice sounding light, foldable and highly portable headphones
6:21
So if you're in the market and you're looking for something and you want to just try out noise canceling without investing hundreds and hundreds of dollars
6:29
these could also be a fun entry level for you to see what that a whole experience is like
6:34
I'm a huge fan of active noise canceling. My standard headphones have them and they're a lot more expensive than these
6:41
These are a really nice alternative. So I say you should check about, and with that, I will catch you in my next video
