Now, I just got this for my daughter, so I've been working on different things to help keep it pristine and protected

Enter Otterbox. Now, they sent us the Alpha Glass Screen Protector for the iPad

seventh generation. This is a bit of a tricky install, but we're going to go ahead and install it on the iPad

And then we're going to go and put the iPad with screen protector in this very nice symmetry folio also from Otterbox

So let's do the hard part first, shall we? Now, step one on any screen protector install that no vendor ever tells you is go wash your hands

I just did that. Get all those oils off your hand. Any imperfections. Just go

wash your hands thoroughly, it's a good idea anyway, but it will help you with the install

Now, let's see, on the smaller versions of this particular screen protector, the Alpha Glass

it comes with a really nice little case that you can put around, for example, your phone

I'm gonna push that up, and you can put it around your phone, and then it makes it really easy to center it

This one does not work that way, so it's a little bit more complicated. Comes with warranty, comes with disclaimers

We don't need any of that. All of that's gone. So now, what we do need is we do need the actual piece of glass itself

And that is in here. And as soon as I pick this up, you're going to see, what's all this stuff, right

So it turns out that it has a protective coat on each side

And the basic idea is that we're going to install it with hinges, lift the hinge up

Peel the bottom part off Let it affix and then peel the top part off got that so I just keep pushing things off camera

So we're not losing anything. I'm just making this a little cleaner so we have a cleaning wipe

We have a lintless cloth which hopefully we can open up and that we will need and again

to do is we're going to start by cleaning the iPad surface. So start by using the cleaning

wipe And this is probably just to set expectations This is probably the trickiest screen protector install I ever done It tricky to do it on a really large surface

because your chances of picking up dust or something obviously are much higher

So you'll notice I have the screen turned on. I have the iPad turned on

Some people say you shouldn't do that. I like to do that because I can then see better

what's going on on the screen surface. So probably not a huge

huge big deal. If you have like a phone where it is edge to edge screen that definitely helps you

center everything, but in this case, that's not that big a deal. So we've done that and now

it's looking pretty good. We're going to use the lint-free cloth just to give it another pass

just to make sure it's as clean as it can be. And then I'll even use the dust removal sticker

And, you know, this is, again, just that final, make sure there's no bits, no oils, nothing

You really want your screen to be pristine because I can guarantee you that if you put this on

and you have bits or a little bit of hair or like molecules of dust or something underneath

super annoying. Okay, we're ready to go. You ready? Now, here's what we want to do

Take the screen protector and on the bottom there's like a green fingerprint sticker

We want to put that facing up. So it looks like this, right

So it fits. Now, it's easy to figure out top and bottom because there's a hole in the bottom

But what we want to do is we want to peel the blue number one stickers off

And then once we get this thing perfectly squared in exactly where we want it

then we put the blue number one stickers off. Then we put those down and then they serve as like a hinge, right

So now, let's see. I have this. It's pretty close to exactly where I want it

That looks good. So now I have it hinged, but it is still pretty much in place

It's not quite right. But I think we can fix that as we go

It's just a slight bit off. And that's okay. So we're going to lift it up

And then there's a tab here. This one says number two. So we're going to peel this off

This is the interior one. And this is pretty critical because now we are putting this directly onto the iPad surface

And if we done this right it will automatically affix And actually my favorite part of working with these screen protectors is that they just sort of magically do their job And we going to help it along a little bit

with this lint-free cloth. And we're going to wipe it up and down

And I can see there's still a couple of spots where there's some air, but we can fix that

Because now the only piece left to do is to pick up number three

And this actually peels off all. of this and you take the hinges off and so now we have we've gotten rid of all the stuff

we don't need and we just have the screen protector on and now I can actually use let's see

let's get it back to there and now I can use the lint-free cloth to just sort of work out a

couple of air bubbles is kind of inevitable that it happens not a big deal but move it around

It is installed. It is ready to go. Looks really nice. So, really, that's it

So the tricky thing is understanding that those number one tabs are the hinge that goes on the top of the screen protector
