Love wireless charging for its convenience but never sure which device to put on the charging pad? Then you're going to love the Mophie 3-in-1 Wireless Qi Charging Stand! Tech expert Dave Taylor of https://www.AskDaveTaylor.com/ checked out the charging station that Apple should have made, testing it with an Apple Watch, Apple AirPods Pro and, of course, an Apple iPhone. Actually, two: An iPhone 11 Pro and an iPhone 12 Pro. How'd it do? Watch the video!
Note: Sorry about the price confusion at the end. Always double check the vendor site. Also, um, this particular model is available in black or white plastic, not with the cool fabric cover. Yet!

One charging pad to rule them all let's check it out
0:11
Dave Taylor here, and I have more and more devices that support wireless charging, which is great
0:16
I'm a big fan of that Qi wireless charging But all the devices end up competing for space on your wireless charger enter this
0:25
This is the Mophie three-in-one wireless charging pad, and it's a really slick design
0:31
So it has a space for your earbuds or air pods has a space for your phone of course
0:37
We're looking at an iPhone here right now, and then it has a space for your Apple watch
0:42
So yes, this is definitely an Apple ecosystem charger Honestly, this is the kind of charger that Apple was gonna ship
0:49
But then they decided not to and now we know why because they took this big detour with the MagSafe now
0:56
This is the iPhone 12 Pro, so it ostensibly has that MagSafe on the back
1:02
I don't know. I don't yet have a MagSafe charger to test it with but I do have this charger
1:08
So I put my phone on here, and it's charging then I have my Apple AirPods Pro
1:14
And they have a little tiny light on the front So if I put it in the little inset then that starts charging and I don't know if you can tell but there's a tiny little
1:22
Light that comes on just for a couple of seconds on the front edge that tells you that the device is charging
1:29
Whatever you've connected and then the third space let me take mine off is for an Apple watch and this supports all
1:35
Apple watch generations, I put it on and you should be seeing it's charging so
1:41
Everything's charging at once and it's a single plug and that plug gives you a nice long cord
1:48
So I mean they've really thought through the whole interface the sort of look of this thing is it's a glass like finish
1:55
It's not glass pretty sure it's just a really shiny plastic But it's a really nice elegant design that you could definitely have on your desk at work or certainly by your bedside table
2:06
And then you'll notice of course that the watch actually works at that 90 degree orientation
2:11
Which gives you that sort of watch nightstand mode, and then if you're wondering I'll take my phone off get rid of all these messages
2:19
you don't need to see those and then I can put it on sideways and
2:23
It'll charge that way too now one of the things is interesting about the iPhone 12 Pro is because of the magsafe
2:29
I've found that it's a little more sensitive than previous generations iPhone
2:34
Previous generations of iPhone to getting it positioned just so on a wireless charger
2:40
I think again the design is that it's gonna just snap into place on that Apple charger
2:45
But I'm not sure I'm ready to spend 60 70 bucks on another charger
2:50
So I like that this works just fine with the Mophie So as I said, it supports air pods. It supports the Apple watch. It's a 7.5 watt fast charging and
3:02
There's generations of wireless charging that are coming out and the more power you can push through
3:07
Wirelessly the faster the device will charge so the first gen was 5 watts
3:12
so this is somewhere between first and second because the second gen is 18 watts and
3:18
Apple's magsafe wireless charging is supposedly 20 watts But it's I haven't quite gotten exact details because I've also read that it's 15 watts peak
3:28
So, I don't know what the 15 versus 20 is at some point someone will release some electrical data
3:33
I will be able to understand that but Qi wireless charging everything rocking at once
3:39
Fantastic, but how fast does it charge? So I took everything I left everything like this for an hour and here's what I found is that my watch charged
3:49
61% in an hour the iPhone 11 Pro actually didn't use this one
3:54
I tried an 11 Pro and that got a 45% charge in an hour
3:58
So why did I use that one instead of this? Because phones charge faster when they're more dead
4:05
so to go from 10% to 40% is faster than to go to 4 from 40 to 80 and
4:12
Certainly to go from 80 all the way up to a hundred can take a long time
4:16
That last 5 or 10 percent is much slower Because that's part of how they condition the batteries to make sure they'll last a long time
4:24
I don't know if you've ever noticed it But if you ever want to test the charger speed don't go from 90 to 100
4:30
That's gonna be slow go from like 10 to 20 or 10 to 50 or something
4:34
So iPhone 11 Pro 45% in an hour not bad And then the AirPods Pro this gets a little bit more complicated right because this has two different charging factors
4:45
There's how charged are the earbuds themselves and how charged is the case? So I have two numbers for that
4:51
So when I put this on Here it was at 9% for the earbuds and 1% for the case Yes
5:00
it was basically dead and an hour later the earbuds were fully charged and the case had gotten up to
5:07
18% and another 15-20 minutes and the case was over 50% charged
5:11
So the point is if you leave everything on here even for an hour or two
5:16
Everything will be charged. So if you leave everything on overnight for sure. Everything's gonna be in great shape
5:21
So really really like it. It's a really nice design and super helpful to be able to charge everything simultaneously
5:29
Now, I know it's a little hard to see but the backings actually pop out
5:34
So there's a little button on the back. And so this is the basic charging unit now at this point
5:40
this is the only actual charging pad because obviously these are Critical and important elements, but it's just a really simple elegant design and the overall measurements of the unit
5:52
Well, the measurements of the base unit at least are 2 inches by 7.3 inches by 4 inches
5:58
Well, yeah, one of those obviously has to do with height So do you measure the height of your phone the height of this whatever be that as it may 9.3 ounces
6:08
It comes with the power cord and everything. It is totally ready to go. And yes, it comes with the Apple watch charging unit
6:15
so the first generation of third-party Apple watch chargers you had to actually buy the Apple cable and
6:22
Snake it in and plug it in and finally Apple just licensed that technology
6:27
So companies like Mophie can just install it and integrate it into their system. So is this glamorous
6:35
No, is it super useful? Oh heck. Yeah This is really if you're frustrated by the wireless charging and the inability to get everything to charge at once
6:44
This is exactly this use case So comes in black or a really nice black fabric kind of wish they would have sent the black fabric because this
6:53
Glass like shiny finish leaves fingerprint marks and I I don't know. I have greasy fingers. I don't know what that's all about
7:00
It's a whole nother story. So let me talk about the price But before I get to the price, let me ask if you can subscribe to my channel. I really appreciate when you do that
7:08
It's just that little red button on the lower right click or tap and boom you're subscribed to my channel
7:14
I get access to tons of gear and I'm super honest in my reviews. So appreciate that that we can stay connected now
7:21
This is the Mophie three-in-one wireless charging pad and it is $97.95 at zag.com
7:31
But when I went to their website, it popped up a little prompt giving me the opportunity to get a 15% discount on a purchase
7:38
So that drops some price off that $97 it is a little spendy for what it is, but if you have the need to have multiple things charging at the same time and
7:48
Honestly, who doesn't right if that's what you need to have set up
7:52
Then this is a glorious solution and definitely one worth checking out and with that I am gonna let everything charge
7:59
Which means I'll hope to catch you in my next video You
