Crank up the outdoors with these Bluetooth speakers
0:02
Let's check them out. Dave Taylor here, and I'm checking out these
0:13
These are the Monoprice Harmony Capsule 200 Bluetooth speakers. Now, they're sold separately, but when you get two of them, it really gets fun
0:22
Now, if you just have one, it's going to give you all the full true stereo signal that you're sending from whatever device you have is your source
0:30
But with two of them, they use the Qualcomm TWS system, which means that they pair
0:36
and now you have full and true stereo, and you have a decent range
0:41
You could have these at opposite ends of your swimming pool if you want to have an outdoor party
0:45
Now, why am I saying outdoors? Because they're IPX-7. You can drop these in the pool, let them sit for five minutes, get them back out, and they'll still be playing
0:56
They'll be perfectly fine. They can handle rain. They can fall in the sun
0:59
snow. If you're at the beach, then they can have the waves hit them. Whatever. There might be a
1:05
little bit of sand. They might get a little sticky, but the sound, the electronics are fully waterproof
1:11
Really great design. Now, they're Bluetooth 5.0. So that also gives you a really good range
1:16
typically like 50 to 75 feet or more. And that pairing, super easy. They stay in sync. There's no
1:24
latency. There's no lag. Works really well. You could use this as a little mini soundbar if you
1:30
have something on your computer screen and use this for the sound
1:34
It would be pretty fun. Built-in microphone too. I just took a phone call on one of these and actually the person on the other end had no idea
1:41
I wasn't holding my phone up to my ear. That's pretty cool
1:45
That also means you can use this with things like Siri or other voice assistance
1:49
because all you have to do is push and hold the power button for a couple of seconds and your phone is ready to chat with you So let me actually give you some music and let hear what they sound like So this is with the stereo pair
2:03
So this is giving me one signal and then this is giving me the different signal
2:11
Now as the music proceeds, you're going to get different sound out of each one because that's what stereo is
2:18
Now, these are pause it again. giving us 30 watts of power per speaker, which is two 42 millimeter drivers and a 66 millimeter driver
2:29
There's a lot going on in these little speakers that are like a really big can of Monster Energy soda or something
2:36
So they're not the lightest speakers in the world, but there is a relationship between the weight of a speaker and its ability to push out those low volume, low frequency sounds
2:48
So this is why this is not super light. Now, each one has a 2,200 mill-amp hour battery
2:55
You charge it through the unit on the back. I'll get to all of that in just second
3:00
Gives you 10 hours of playback depending on volume, but at least 10 hours, probably more
3:05
if you're not actually cranking it all the way to the very top and they get loud
3:10
Now, dimensions, they are 10 inches by 4 inches around, and they're 2.4 pounds each
3:16
So this is 5 pounds worth of speakers, which doesn't sound like a lot
3:20
but if you're backpacking, You're going to really want to think twice about adding five pounds to your pack
3:24
I know. Been there, done that. So, let's talk about all the controls and everything
3:30
On the front, there's volume up, volume down, Bluetooth, pause, play, and power
3:36
There are four LEDs that show you the battery status. And, of course, I can do things like push, pause play
3:43
and it starts the music again on both speakers. They working together Pause it And one of the things that nice is if you push and hold the plus you go to the next track push and hold the minus you go to the previous push and hold the power
3:58
you actually get to voice assistant. And the big secret one is that if you push and hold the
4:04
Bluetooth button, you can actually step between inputs because on the back there is a covered space
4:11
and let me show you a close up so you can see what's going on in here. And that gives you the USBC
4:17
for charging, but it also gives you 3.5 millimeter AUX input and a microSD card slot
4:26
So you could very easily drop hundreds of your favorite songs onto a microSD, put it in this
4:33
and then you don't even need a phone or any other device. It would be completely self-contained
4:38
That's really handy. Now, the Bluetooth button also doubles for giving you standard or bass or 3D EQ
4:47
and I actually can't hear a whole lot of difference between them, to be totally honest
4:52
but you can experiment and try to get which one actually sounds best for you
4:57
They do come with USBA, which is the rectangle, to USBC charging cables
5:05
And since I have two units, of course, I have two of the cables. And it comes with a very typical, look how small we can print this manual
5:14
But it does give you some information about the different button pushes and everything
5:17
I will tell you, I will warn you that if you get two and you want to stereo pair them
5:24
I found that their instructions were not accurate. It's not hard to do
5:28
You push and hold the play button for two seconds and it goes beep
5:32
And then according to the instructions, the other one just magically connects. I did not find that to be the case
5:38
So power them both up, push and hold one play button for two seconds
5:42
It goes beep. Push and hold the second one for two seconds And then it double beeps and now you have that stereo pair That good to know because you really do want to get two speakers It really fun They sound terrific There a big
5:56
rich sound which you don't often get in these smaller sort of speakers. And I know it's not super
6:01
small. It's not like the size of a hockey puck or like your Apple Watch or something. But it also
6:07
gives you a big, full room filling sound. This is something where you could bring this to
6:14
volleyball practice and crank up those tunes while everyone's warming up. You can take it to the pool
6:20
You can have it out when you're having a picnic or something. Lots of fun things you can do with it
6:25
And I really like all the different input choices. So if you don't want to have Bluetooth or you
6:29
don't have that option, you can use 3.5 millimeter AUX, cable not included, or microSD card
6:37
card not included. So that's everything. All we need to do now is talk about the price. But before we get to
6:42
the price. I'm going to ask if you could subscribe to my channel, a click or tap on that
6:47
subscribe button, and we're connected. Easy, simple, do it. Thank you. Awesome. Now, each one of
6:54
these is the Monoprice Harmony capsule 200 speaker, and they're 8150 each at Amazon, but here's
7:03
the secret. If you go to Monoprice.com, they're 6999 each. So that's a pretty substantial
7:10
difference, go to monoprice.com, get two of these, and power up your spring into summer
7:16
and just have a good time, because we all could do with more music. That's all I got. I hope to
7:21
catch you in my next video
