A waterproof Bluetooth speaker from IKEA
0:02
Let's check it out. Dave Taylor here, and I'm checking out this
0:13
This is the VAPAB waterproof Bluetooth speaker from IKEA. Now, IKEA introduced the VAPAB line a while back
0:22
and I think they're most well known right now for their lamp. That also has a Bluetooth speaker built in
0:28
But this is the latest addition to their lineup. It is just a little humble Bluetooth wireless speaker that's IP67 waterproof
0:38
And we'll test that in just a minute. But it is incredibly inexpensive, as you would expect from IKEA
0:45
And it's incredibly simple to work with. In fact, the unit only has one button
0:51
There's no volume control, no pause play, no hidden built-in microphone. It is a Bluetooth speaker
0:58
that you can turn on and off, and that's basically it. Nice and simple
1:03
So it also does not come with a charging cable. That's important to know because it has, I'm going to find it here on the back
1:12
a USBC charging port. So you're going to need to have your own cable and your own charging system
1:19
so you can plug it in. Now, impressively, when you do get it fully charged
1:24
then it will give you up to 80 hours of playback. That is a long darn time
1:30
Now they say 80 hours at 50 volume So as with all wireless and charged devices if you have it on super high volume then you going to get less battery life Now in this particular instance that actually important because it doesn get really loud
1:47
And that's something you will want to know. So yes, you can hang it up and use it in the shower, but if you're going to have that water pounding on your ears or on the top of your head
1:57
it's possible you're not going to hear this while that's going on, which might be true for most audio systems that you'd have
2:03
in the shower anyway but the important thing is this would work really well pool side
2:09
or dock side or any environment where it might get spilled on or wet so enough talking let's give it
2:16
some music and so i'm pointing it towards me it's a pretty decent volume but this is with my
2:26
iPhone 14 pro at maximum volume and since there's no way to change the
2:33
on this device, that's just what it is. So let's move a little further into that track
2:42
I mean, it sounds okay. It is a small Bluetooth speaker, so it's mostly focused on the mid-range
2:50
Entirely listenable, you're not going to get that big party base, but you're also not paying
2:56
250 bucks for this monster speaker, right? So it is in its category a really nice
3:03
reproduction And it is easy to work with It is ABS plastic and there two little rubber feet so you can point it toward yourself Or of course you can just leave it on the table or on whatever surface you on and let it point straight up If you get two of these you can actually stereo pair them which is great
3:24
So you could have one on either side of your picnic table and get a little bit better sound out of the whole system
3:30
So lots to like. Let's put this on. Let me find a different track. I'm sort of constrained by having to use royalty-free music, but let's see if we can get this to work
3:42
Okay, so at least this is a little different. And while it's playing IP67, right
3:49
So it is floating in water. It is perfectly functional. It's a little interesting that they don't have a cover for that USBC port
3:58
but they must have designed it so that it can handle the water. And even if I put it speaker down
4:06
obviously significantly shuts down the volume, but it's still. working just fine and once we get the water out of it let's see well interesting
4:19
something I did stopped it playing so let's try playing again now I'm curious
4:28
ah so the button actually gives you pause play too and that's what must have
4:34
happened so that's pretty cool volume seems to have gone down a little bit I assume
4:42
that when it dries, it will go back up. But all at all a super simple super straightforward speaker that gives you lots of versatility And when I tell you the price you are going to be startled It is as you would expect from IKEA at the very low end of your
5:02
cost. So it is, let me give you some dimensions. Three by three by two. It comes in red or yellow
5:10
or black. It's really light. I would guess, I don't know, maybe six or seven ounces. And price wise
5:17
oh, hold on, before we get to the price, I'm going to ask if you could submit
5:21
to my channel click or tap on that subscribe button then don't forget to click on that
5:26
bell icon for notifications and if you found this helpful and valuable please go ahead
5:32
and give me a like or a thumbs up appreciate that cool this is the VAPA be waterproof
5:38
wireless Bluetooth speaker from IKEA and it is 1499 at Ikea.com or you can just go to one
5:47
of their stores and pick up one or ideally two to get that stereo sound
5:51
1499 this is a no-brainer you can leave this on your bicycle and if someone takes it
5:57
whatever get another one so really really nice piece of engineering as you would expect
6:03
from ikea it's pretty bulletproof and you know not a lot of functionality but it does what it
6:10
needs to do and it does that well it's everything i got i'm going to go back to my music so i'll
6:15
catch you in my next video
