hi in this video I'm going to show you
0:03
on how you can make an image to be
0:05
slightly darker in conab so this
0:08
darkening effect is very useful
0:10
especially if you are working with
0:12
multiple elements and you have some text
0:15
that is located on top of the image and
0:18
the text has a white font and the
0:20
background or the image is really bright
0:23
so it will make the text to be really
0:25
difficult to read and that is the case
0:28
for this design as you can see the text
0:30
here is white but the background is also
0:33
kind of bright and it will make the text
0:36
rather difficult to see and that is not
0:38
a good design so we want to make the
0:40
background to be slightly dark darker so
0:44
there are multiple methods you can try
0:46
and I'm going to show you some methods
0:48
that uh will make an image to be darker
0:51
first I'm going to duplicate this page
0:54
uh and then we can compare the before
0:56
and after the effect so the first method
0:58
is really by just applying some filter
1:00
to the background you can click on the
1:02
image and then you can click edit and on
1:05
the filter section you can click see all
1:07
and there will be plenty of different
1:09
options like maybe this one this is a
1:12
little bit darker you can also use this
1:14
effect if you want to and I can tell
1:17
that the text is now much more visible
1:19
but personally I don't like this filter
1:22
technique because it will be applied to
1:23
the entire image and sometimes we just
1:26
want to uh we just want to apply and
1:29
affect the specific to our liing maybe
1:31
we want to adjust the brightness of the
1:33
background but we don't want to
1:35
necessarily change other colors so I'm
1:37
going to go back and remove the filters
1:40
uh the second method is by using the
1:42
adjust technique you can go to adjust
1:44
and you can play around with the
1:45
brightness level you can reduce it to
1:47
make the text more visible and you can
1:51
play around with Shadow with blacks with
1:53
whes so there are a lot a lot of Sliders
1:55
to play around here I'm not going to
1:56
tell you all of them because they can be
1:59
very comp IND at that but yeah uh these
2:02
sliders you can play around and then you
2:03
can see which one do you think will work
2:06
the best another method that you can try
2:09
is by adding some layer of shape on top
2:12
of the image so I'm going to visit
2:15
elements and I'm going to add shapes
2:17
this square shape let's change it to
2:20
Black and I'm going to make it really
2:23
big like it's going to encapsulate
2:26
everything it will cover the entire
2:28
design and after that I'm going to
2:30
adjust the position click position and
2:33
click layers and I want to put it just
2:36
on top of the image so after that click
2:40
transparency and we can play around with
2:42
it so I think that is slightly better uh
2:46
by the way this woman is actually
2:48
isolated from the background so there
2:49
are two photos of woman the the one that
2:52
is in the background and the other one
2:53
that is on top of everything that's why
2:55
it's kind of overlapping the text and I
2:57
think that's a really cool design so so
3:00
that is the result and uh the downside
3:02
of this technique of course it's not
3:05
going to be best especially if you're
3:07
still working on the document you have
3:09
something big that kind of blocking
3:11
everything but I do see the Merit
3:14
because it will make the image to be
3:17
consistently darker like all colors all
3:19
elements of the image will be darker not
3:22
just some colors of the image so it's
3:24
going to be more consistent anyway let's
3:27
see the before and let's see the after
3:29
so that's how you can make an image to
3:32
be darker in cona I hope you find this
