The Stunning Capri-Amalfi Coast, Itlay

On this episode of American Travelers, we're visiting the beautiful island of Capri, Italy. We are traveling to Sorrento, Italy, a breathtaking coastal town perched on the cliffs of the Sorrentine Peninsula. We're staying blocks from the port in this very Italian-decorated suite. Next: Positano has a vibrant art community with many galleries showcasing the works of local artists, from traditional paintings to contemporary art. We're traveling from the island of Capri and coming into the port of Positano. It's a picturesque village on the Amalfi Coast, and it looks like it was plucked straight out of a postcard We're in Southern Italy, and traveling south from the Amalfi Coast. On our way to Avelino, we stop in Salerno, get a car, and drive across the country. After a great lunch and a few miles, we arrive near Alberobello. Matera, an ancient city in the southern part of Italy. We see this unusual aboveground pipe. My guess is that it carries water. And here is the first view of the city. Wow, what do we have here? We're in the ancient city of Matera. It dates back 7500 BC. The Sassi di Matera is one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world. The word "Sassi" means "stone" in English.
