Fat Joe says major labels are a Ponzi Scheme

So, Fat Joe calls major hip-hop labels a Ponzi scheme. Let's talk hip-hop

All right, Joe, this situation is crazy, right? Because recently, Fat Joe did an interview where

he called major record labels a Ponzi scheme, right? I mean, basically, he explained how the

money does not equal to the numbers, right? He says, how are artists streaming so much

How are the numbers so huge? And if people say that numbers don't lie

then why does the money not coincide with it, right? He said he even spoke to J-Lo once upon

a time and that J-Lo was saying that, yo, it's hard to make money out here in these streets

He says that the way to go is independence, right? Once he realizes that he had money too

he decided to self-fund all his projects. He said that he would go to Yugoslavia or China

or whatever for like a month or two, go on tour, then come back to the US and spend that money on

his own self, making his own album and projects and just putting it out, right? He said that he

was in a position where he could go independent and the look of his music videos or just his

whole character would not change based on the fact that he's independent and not signed to

a major record deal, right? But Fat Joe is a person that's willing to do the work, man. He

works hard and he puts it in. Plus, he's been in the game for like 30 years or whatever the case

may be, so he had a headstart, right? Some artists don't know how to do it. Some artists don't know

how to put in the work. Some artists will rather have a major record deal or a major record label

do that work for them. So, it's all about what type of person you are, which makes you the type

of artist that you are, right? So, shout out to Fat Joe for realizing that for himself. And yeah

I mean, other artists do it too. Russ Youngdolph, recently Brent Fias did a $50 million deal with

United Masters because he wanted to stay independent. So, there are artists out there
