“Gravity” — Written by Judson Duncan | Music by The Voodoo Soul & Justin Odom
A Song Born on a Mountain, in Hunger, in Loss — OpenAI Music Video Competition
“Gravity” wasn’t written in a studio.
It was written on a mountain after three days of fasting —
three musicians on the edge of losing everything.
One of us living out of his car after a brutal divorce,
all of us broke, exhausted, and trying to hold onto something that felt like purpose.
The lyrics came from that place we don’t talk about:
where your soul feels split,
where you wonder what became of you,
what became of the people you loved,
and whether anything still has weight.
This song is spiritual gravity —
not the force that drags you down,
but the force that keeps you from floating away when life has stripped you bare.
