What's up guys it's Jason from AIPT Comics back again with another toy review
0:04
It's not another Lego build but you know we can't get those all the time
0:09
Hey Lego if you're listening please send us some more stuff. But it is kind of
0:13
cool it is pretty exciting especially if you're an X-Men fan. It is the 112 Mezco
0:20
Gambit action figure at long last. I feel like I've been waiting for this guy
0:24
for quite some time. Yeah fully posable comes with seven replacement hands, two different faces, a whole mess of card effects, his staff
0:34
Allegedly the trench coat is made of actual leather. We'll see how that goes
0:39
once we open this bad boy. All sorts of cool poses that you can do with him
0:43
This is of course with it being Mezco not for playing so much as it is for
0:49
big old nerds like me who just want to have a cool Gambit looking guy on their shelf. So why don't we open this guy up and see what we can do. So here's the
1:00
Gambit figure of course in this nice little box. You can check out all of these
1:04
cool details and different locales listed on the back. But you guys are here
1:11
for a review of the box so let's instead take this guy out of there and voila
1:18
So as you can see he's a perma sealed at this point sort of like he's been
1:24
kidnapped and they decided to over plastic the face. A whole bunch of cool
1:30
stuff. I'm gonna try and be careful not to mess with the box. I'm not one of
1:35
those people who keeps their figures in the box mint all that sort of stuff but
1:41
all the same, I like to be neat and orderly. If it's not a real Mezco if it doesn't have one of
1:47
these guys in there warning you not to play with these toys. Okay so let's work on the figure itself
2:01
Here of course we've got the stand. We'll get to that in a little bit
2:07
For now let's take a look at the Gambit figure itself. First off, a little facial treatment
2:21
Okay so right off the bat the trench coat does in fact feel like leather
2:27
It's probably a leather substitute sort of thing but it's definitely fabric
2:33
It's got little belts in the back. Let's take this stuff off his arms and stomach
2:42
And yeah he is definitely poseable. Wow he's got a lot of points of articulation
2:50
Foot has two, not three, damn I was really hoping by that foot that he would have two, three really
2:58
That's a typical actual action figure posing. Arms, okay it's a ball joint
3:06
And the shoulders, see the head. Head's very poseable too. This is the default face
3:16
Remember he's looking all handsome and ish. Yeah so pretty cool figure so far
3:26
Let's throw him down for a little bit. Take a look at..
3:30
Now this is a pretty cool version of his staff. And for no other reason it's not super flimsy
3:37
It's light of course but it doesn't feel like I'm going to break it just by touching it
3:41
So that's a positive. Let's take a look at some of these card effects
3:47
So an excluding card. An individual charging card. Here's a hand slash card effect
3:56
So it's for when he shoots straight out. We'll see if we can set that up in a second
4:02
Okay here is his big swath action. I'm throwing out so many cards
4:09
That one's going to be cool to use. And then of course down here we've got some little baby cards
4:17
Little baby cards just in case we want him to not be charging a card
4:21
In our office pose, whatever we're going to do for him. Let's compare the two heads
4:28
Let's see. So if I'm honest, there's not a whole lot of difference in the build on the two heads
4:40
He's kind of smirking in this one. In this one he's a little more serious
4:44
But looks pretty indistinct from one another. It's also a little... It's kind of a shame that his eyes are kind of squinted
4:56
Because then you don't get the full gambit eyes with the red sclera
5:01
Well the red iris isn't black sclera. I also, while the face build is cool and definitely looks a little Jim Lee-ish
5:11
When you compare it to the Marvel Legends face build. I feel like there's maybe a little more character here in the Marvel Legends
5:21
Than in this Mezco one. Very similar side swept hairdos too. Of course that trench coat is all plastic
5:30
And his car effects aren't as cool. New figure. Smell. So let's take..
5:37
Oh there's more plastic back here. Let's close. So yeah, actually when you look at the chest armor
5:46
They really put some neat little rivets I guess into it. To make it look more like metal
5:56
You can see snaps on the waist. He's got a little pouch on either side
6:02
Presumably where he keeps his cards. It kept the racing stripe that I've never understood why he has on his pants
6:09
Um, yeah. Let's take a look at the non-card hands. So this one is kind of the reach out, I'll be there, touch your hands
6:24
That one's pretty cool. Oh, I could have caught that one before it fell on the floor
6:29
That could have been a problem. And here's the other hand. They are both kind of..
6:36
I'll be there. Sorry. Four-topped guy. So it looks like these next two hands are for holding the staff
6:47
You can tell because he's got the little holes in there. Just basic fists
6:52
Again, he's got little dainty little man hands. Which, yeah, I suppose that's fine as a thief
6:58
Supposed to be able to have nimble fingers I guess. Then the seventh hand is another one that..
7:09
Oh, actually, you know what? There's a little gap between the finger and thumb
7:14
So I think that it would be for... Yeah, it's for sticking the single charge card in which is pretty cool actually
7:22
Do a couple of poses. And close this video out if you are interested
7:31
It's a pretty cool figure. He's very poseable. The figure itself retails for about $85 depending on where you get it
7:41
It comes with a stand which is cool. And of course that's the X-Stand which is great if you have a lot of these guys
7:51
And it's a fun little figure. It's very detailed, very ornate. Something Gambit fans will want to actually consider
8:01
I believe the Kotobukiya's are pretty popular as well. This is a really cool Gambit figure
8:09
It's a slight upgrade I would say from the Marvel Legends Gambit
8:16
Although the Marvel Legends Gambit does appear to have a few more points of articulation
8:23
Like the thighs move on that one. Well, the ankles do here, but the calves are able to be twisted
8:30
And there's a piece in the chest that's also maneuverable. Whereas this torso is pretty rigid
8:39
But yeah, still a cool figure. Check him out. And yeah, check us out
