Hey guys, it's Dave from AIPTComics.com and we have an unboxing for you
0:11
It's actually the DC Comics Multiverse Batman. It just came out. We pre-ordered it so it might be appearing in stores now, maybe not, I'm not sure
0:21
But this is part of a five figure set that actually has a build-a-figure, they don't
0:27
call it build-a-figure, I think that's copyright, but you can build this rookie figure here
0:33
And there's some other characters, looks like there's Duke, gosh I forget his name, he's
0:40
a bat character. I had no idea. And he's a villain obviously and I think that's Adam, yeah, Captain Adam
0:48
So anyway, we're going to unbox this and check it out. We're pretty psyched because this is I think the Batman that was designed by Greg Capullo
0:55
only a year or so ago. And he has the purple cape, which us at AIPTComics we really like purple, I don't know if you
1:03
can tell. So let me unbox this. It's a pretty simple figure
1:09
It's quite basic. So obviously we have the leg from Rookie here
1:13
We're going to need a lot more pieces to make it fit
1:17
It's quite dark blue actually, surprisingly. Because the Rookie you can buy for $60 is I think a shinier, lighter blue
1:26
Alright, so as you can see Batman is protected in this plastic sheath
1:31
We're going to have to pull him out to get him out and also pull his cape through the
1:39
opening hole. Oh! Okay. Alright, so here's the figure. Looking pretty cool
1:46
It's definitely a really dark purple. It's not as bright as you see in the comics
1:51
But, and then you've got the, the skin tone is a little darker too even
1:57
But definitely the newer costume. The cape is hard plastic, it doesn't really bend much
2:05
So you're not going to get a lot of different poses out of him. He's got some sweet leg muscles though
2:11
Oh yeah, look at that. And he's got little bat kneecap armor. I don't know if you can see that
2:20
And the hinge actually looks kind of different than like Marvel Legends. It's like contained a little bit
2:25
The kneecap piece does not move at all. Whereas on other figures I've seen it move
2:32
And then he's got the ankle. But you know what? It doesn't, okay
2:38
It's hard to move. It only goes one way. So you're not going to be posing him in ninja poses, that's for sure
2:45
And there's no, oh, there's no toe hinge or anything like that
2:49
Let's see that tread on the boot. Oh yeah, the tread. Oh, there's a number
2:54
Pretty good tread. I mean the very bottom is actually flat, but the sides have some nice tread
2:59
That's a pretty good detail. Not a lot of movement. Oh, he does move this way though
3:06
So we can break his thighs here. And then his arms are kind of contained by this cape, which is, I mean the cowl is kind
3:17
of cool. I mean, obviously the bat symbol is a highlight because of the yellow outline
3:22
That's really nice. His wrists move around. I can't tell if they move any other way, which is odd
3:32
Are his hands only in a fist? They are. You can't move his fingers
3:36
And then he has these pretty cool gauntlets in there. They come out. They're nice and hard in there
3:41
They're not going to break off. And then you can move his elbow a little
3:48
And then it does turn this way. But not a lot of movement in here
3:53
There's a bit of detail on the inside of his gauntlet. And then his head moves all the way around and really not up and down at all
4:05
It just swivels this way. I think there's a paint defect on the side of his head here
4:10
It's a little bit of a yellow mark. He didn't paint his bat symbol quite as well as we would wish
4:21
I mean, there's not a lot to this figure. There's actually no accessories
4:26
It's just the leg. And I mean, his belt is kind of nice
4:33
You know what? To be honest, this feels like a toy that is made for a kid that's under 10
4:41
A kid who's under 10 is going to love this thing in the Sandpit. A kid who is 33 like me
4:48
How much did you pay for this one? Oh, he's only $20. You can probably get him in a store in two months for $15
4:54
So you can get Sandpit Batman for $20. I mean, let's be honest
4:59
The costume is pretty cool. But he leaves a lot to be desired
5:10
I mean, I'm going to pose him with my other Batmans, that's for sure. But I don't know
5:15
It's interesting. I'm not wowed by it. And the purple is just not as bright as I would like it to be
5:20
In fact, if you... Do you want to just do a quick pan over to other Batmans
5:26
Get up close, almost. I mean, comparatively, that one's detailed. That one's pretty nice
5:33
The cape is amazing. It doesn't really bend like this one, but it's similar to this one
5:38
It's cool how you can sweep it to the side. Yeah. And then you've got the rookie, the Jim Gordon Batman on the left
5:44
And then you've got the next suit Batman, which is highly detailed and poseable
5:48
I mean, that's just like a Funko. That's a Funko. And then there's the rookie
5:53
And you can see the blue is actually a lot brighter and shinier. It looks more expensive than this leg that came with this Batman
6:00
And then moving on, you have a bust, which is different. And then a pretty cool Chinese Funko type toy and then a Funko scarecrow
6:11
But yeah, comparatively, not a fan. And I don't think this is as good as any of those to be honest
6:19
He looked cooler in the pictures. Let's just say that. But you might love it
6:23
And it's not that pricey. It's only 20 bucks. Compared to Marvel Legends, though, which are $20, those come with accessories
6:31
They have better detail. They bend better. Obviously, because they bend better, they're more poseable
6:39
And even the BAF, the Build-A-Figure. I mean, this is a cool Build-A-Figure, but if I can get a better one for 60 bucks, I will
6:46
So anyway. Overall, I'm not really impressed. I guess that's par for the course for a lot of DC action figures
6:55
I mean, it's going to go up there on my wall, but still. Eh
