This is David Brook coming to you with a review of the Amazing Yamaguchi Revoltech Venom
0:17
This is the third Marvel Amazing Yamaguchi figure. The first two is the Deadpool and the Spider-Man, which came out only about two or three months
0:28
ago now. It started with the Deadpool. These two figures are quite similar in that they have similar joints and the same stand
0:44
but obviously the molds are a lot different. One thing I'm really curious about when it comes to this Venom is the size, because as
0:52
we know, if we're comic fans, Venom is typically huge. He can be more svelte, but generally he's a hulking monster
1:02
So we'll compare Venom with these two other guys later in the video, but before we do
1:09
that, let's unbox this guy. Let's look at the packaging. We've got some comic images from Marvel Comics
1:19
This side here is super retro, which is pretty cool. The back has some words from Venom
1:27
Obviously some not English language. And then on the other side we've got a pose of the toy itself
1:40
And even some dialogue on the bottom. Alright, let's open this. There's even some details on the edges here, which is pretty sweet
2:18
Comes with a little piece of paper here, with details on his back
2:24
He's got some peg holes there for probably some symbiote action. Alright, we've got this backdrop of Venom, and he is totally poking out there
2:39
Packaging wise, everything is contained in this sort of cover. Okay, here we've got the figure
2:53
Looks like we've got a different eyepiece. We've got some, ooh, there's some claws
3:02
Wow, this is pretty cool. There is a hinge so that you can move this piece, just one
3:10
And then there's a peg for wherever it goes on him. We've got another arm, symbiote arm
3:19
This is pretty cool. We've got a tongue. There's some crazy detail on that tongue
3:26
It's like little pits, and it's more red in the pitted area, just like a real tongue
3:31
And it curves nicely too. Alright, we've got two more limbs bagged
3:42
And they too have hinges, which is pretty cool. And some nice detail
3:50
It looks like a real blade on the end there. And it's actually a little silver
4:00
It's mostly black, maybe a little blue, but silver on the end
4:04
probably to convey the fact that it's a blade. And then these as well have a bit of silver
4:12
Okay, so let's pull this guy out. It comes out so easy
4:20
Alright, just like the Deadpool and the Spider-Man, where the hinges are, probably to protect the paint job
4:31
Wow, look at that. Look at his jaw. That's crazy. And then clearly he's got a spot to put his tongue
4:40
We've got to do that. You can't go tongueless. Oh, my God, there's a hinge
4:44
There is a hinge for the tongue. They know what they're doing with Venom. Okay
4:54
Looking pretty good. And then the top part even moves, just the top of his head where the top jaw moves a little
5:00
which is pretty cool. And then the teeth come. Whoa. Interesting. And he's got some pretty crazy delts
5:10
Let's see here. Here's his back. Yeah, he is crazy muscular. He seems to move an entire shoulder blade. Wow
5:23
The paint job is really good. He's got some crazy veins in the buttocks and the legs
5:32
Here, you can see right here. And the shoulders. That's different. I don't know if he usually has veins
5:42
unless that's supposed to be like the symbiote that's moving about. All right
5:48
Let's see. Let's take this plastic off. So as you can see, there's this extra stomach chunk here
6:03
So he has an extra bendability. Let's stick that back in
6:13
All right. Before we look at that a little closer, there's an extra plastic piece here
6:21
and that's just the stand. And it comes with an additional, I think this is for his middle torso
6:29
so that in case you lose it maybe or something breaks, you have an extra, which is a nice touch
6:35
As far as accessories go, we've only got the four different symbiote spiky parts
6:45
and this head piece here. Let's look at this for a second
6:50
How does this work? Aha. So it looks like you could take off his top jaw here
6:57
So here's Venom without his top jaw. Here's his head. So you take this top jaw part
7:04
if you look at it closely actually before we do that, got some pretty good detail on those teeth
7:11
They're not super long teeth, but pretty good detail, and a nice paint job too
7:18
And then the top of his jaw isn't got a lot of detail
7:23
All right. This is the different head piece. Looks like there's a part you just stick this piece right into
7:32
It's a different look. It's sort of like a sly look compared to this one
7:41
All right. And then that looks freaky without that. You simply plug this guy in here
7:49
All right. Boom. It's got a little attitude. All right. So looking at his bendability
8:00
he's got a lot. So it looks like you can move his arms up and down like so
8:06
He's got these shoulders that can completely turn his arm. So it goes from here all the way to here
8:16
Not a lot, but it's more of a shift. And we've got the usual joint here
8:26
and then he's got the wrist, which is another ball joint. So it goes all the way around just like this one
8:33
And it can bend like this, bend like this. And then he's got a thumb that points
8:43
Can't straighten that thumb. But he's got fingers in each one. You can bend the last two together, the middle
8:54
and then the pointer. So you can feasibly have him give you the finger
9:02
which I'm sure a lot of kids will do when they first get it, just like me
9:06
Anyway, so second arm is the same. He's got some pretty cool detail on the back here
9:13
He's got these little flanges of symbiote coming off. The legs, very beefy legs here
9:21
Let's see here. It looks like this wants to turn, but it's all one piece here
9:30
This is all one piece right here. But there's a part here in the groin that can turn
9:36
So maybe the, oh, okay. That lets you split his legs a little
9:41
And he's got a knee joint. This is different from the other Yamagachis because it only goes one way
9:48
which is really different for them. So you can't bend it this way
9:54
And then he's got one hinge on the feet. Toes don't move separately
10:00
It's all the one ball part of the foot. All right, and then the torso, he's got this
10:08
He can move down here too. And then he can crunch really good, as you can see
10:15
And crunch back, straight. This piece is a little loose, but it's more there to cover the middle
10:22
so that he can bend. And then finally we've got the head here, which is a lot of movement
10:28
He can go really straight down, but also back up. And then this piece can turn like this
10:45
This piece can turn a little, like so, up and down mostly
10:50
The head can turn a pretty good amount, not a lot
11:00
And then the jaw itself has a hinge so that it can close a pretty good amount
11:13
The tongue gets in the way, though. Let's take the tongue out
11:18
When he has his mouth closed, he's got a crazy front jaw
11:26
And then when it's open, that peg hole in the mouth there is a little obvious, isn't it
11:34
When he's opening his mouth. As close as you can tell. Okay
11:55
All right. So this is the stand. It's exactly the same as the Spider-Man and Deadpool stand
12:01
It's super simple to put together. You simply stick the bottom end to the base
12:07
And then you've got the part that you will wrap around the character
12:11
and you stick it right into this peg hole. It's pretty sturdy
12:17
The only question is, how does this little guy fit on this huge guy
12:27
Because if you look at this, it doesn't really wrap around him that well. It needs to be longer
12:33
And he is pretty heavy. But it will hold him. So one other thing
12:39
You can actually stick the stand right into his back. And that way, you don't have to worry about going around his waist
12:47
So that's one way around that, and it makes the stand actually valuable
12:51
You can actually stick these symbiote tendrils into these holes here, which is going to be one of the bigger draws of this toy
13:01
which I will do now. I'm going to make it a little more chaotic
13:06
And so obviously you can bend them any which way. It certainly changes his look
13:12
Aside from putting them on his back, you can also make him have
13:18
a smaller crazy arm to shoot out at Spider-Man, which is kind of cool
13:26
Comparing him to Deadpool, he is about the same height. Clearly a little thicker on the top
13:39
And then, more importantly, compared to Spider-Man, it's like they're doing a selfie or something
13:49
Now, I've seen people complain that he's not big enough compared to Spider-Man
13:57
Now, I would say the height is definitely not bigger, but look how huge he is in comparison
14:04
Spider-Man is definitely thinner and outmatched muscularly, which is kind of Venom's thing
14:11
And you just saw him fall over because he's so top-heavy. It's kind of crazy
14:17
Review-wise, I have to say, right now, he was a little bit more money than Spider-Man was
14:23
So, is it more value? Well, let's see. Here's some cons. It's kind of hard to see, but the joint on this jaw right here
14:34
you can actually see it's a little red. The paint job's a little messed up there
14:38
It should be all black. That said, the paint job everywhere else is perfect
14:46
All these lines are defined well, and the actual color of his blackness is a little blue
14:53
It's shiny, but a little blue, so that's a nice, definitely a nice color for him
14:59
He's not jet black, which isn't bad, but this is a different type
15:05
Movement-wise, arms and fingers are great. Clearly, when they made this, they were thinking
15:12
Venom's biggest strength is his muscular, top-heavy body, where he could just crush a spider
15:24
And I have to say, his arms are pretty cool. And then he can definitely move these arms pretty well
15:34
There's a lot of muscle to fight with back here, so they can't move all that much
15:41
But that said, you can get him in pretty good positions. The wrist also can move forward pretty good, like so
15:51
but not back that great, because it gets in the way. And then the legs
16:01
Little surprised there's only one joint like this. When all other Revoltech toys have the circular hinge
16:13
and then the torso is like all other Revoltech toys, it can bend like crazy, like crazy
16:20
This is where all the crazy action bending moves go. And it's pretty sturdy, although he kind of wants to move a little
16:30
It clicks, so that means it's locked in, and look how, if you look at this
16:36
I mean there's a lot of weight there being held by this little circular joint
16:44
and that's probably why it's dangling. It's got so much weight. Maybe they should have made a bigger circular joint
16:50
so that it wouldn't be like that. It's going to make posing a little harder
16:55
because you think he's in the right position, and maybe there's a little give to it, and he falls over
17:01
In summary, paint job, really nice. Colors are really nice. Movement of the head
17:10
and the fact that you get two different looks on the eyes, is a nice touch
17:16
Arms and shoulders, really cool. This is a different sort of Venom for sure. If you have a huge Venom collection, you do not have a Venom like this
17:22
especially with this top heavy, super muscular looking dude. I think that's particularly cool, because compared to Spider-Man
17:33
he looks like he's way stronger. Then also the tongue is a really nice touch
17:41
especially because it has a joint, so you can get that tongue in a lot of different positions
17:45
and make him crazy looking. Then I like the toes, and I like the fingers
17:51
There's a lot of movement going on here. This giant shoulder blade is pretty crazy too
18:03
It allows you to put him in some crazy positions. That said, he's so top heavy
18:10
I don't know what kind of positions he can get into and stay
18:14
I'm sure you can make it work. This joint in the center of his body, in the chest here
18:20
it's a little unnerving that it's already wiggling. What's going to happen after six months of posing him and playing with him
18:29
That might get looser and looser, who knows. I'm pretty disappointed that this knee joint is just one hinge
18:38
That means you can't make this leg twist like Spider-Man's here, and go like this
18:45
Obviously he just broke his leg, but you catch my drift. This is the first Yamagashi with a one direction hinge here
18:55
which is interesting. Overall, I think this is a cool toy, but it's more of a statue-y kind of toy
19:05
It is nice that they have Venom to go with Spider-Man though
19:11
because now he has somebody to fight in the same kind of style
19:15
One of my biggest complaints with these is that you can see the hinge here
19:20
but with Venom you can't. It's pretty much covered up with this huge shoulder
19:25
As you can see, I have quite a Venom collection, and also Anti-Venom, there he is saying hi
19:33
and Spider-Man symbiote in the back there. Overall, I think it's a really good addition to the Venom collection
19:43
particularly because he's so different. We've got the classic Tom McFarlane-looking Venom that's the original
19:52
He's not huge, he's kind of just a dude in a suit. You've got the Flash Thompson Venom that's more cop than out-of-control symbiote
20:07
You've got the Square Enix Venom that is just crazy big but also out-of-this-world
20:13
He also has a hinge on his tongue. So that's two Venoms now that I have that have a hinging tongue
20:21
He's just a different beast entirely. Then you've got the Movie Venom and Space Knight Venom
20:29
and then obviously Spider-Man's Venoms over here. If you look at the whole collection, he is a lot different
20:38
He's about as hulking as Space Venom here, which was a baff
20:42
but he's got these bendable tendrils, he's got the tongue, but also he's just huge in the upper body, which is pretty cool
20:53
The paint and the detail in the muscles and whatnot and the veins
21:00
are all different than most other Venom action figures. So overall, pretty sweet toy
21:07
I think I would recommend it. I don't think it should be your first Venom
21:11
because I think there are some others in this collection that are maybe nicer
21:15
maybe a little bit more your speed, especially since he is a lot different than the typical Venom you see in the comic book
21:24
But yeah, if you're going to add him to the collection, you've got a different Venom entirely
21:30
