BMW E36 hood removal is a quick process. The first thing you should do is get a 2x4 and hold the hood up because you will need to disconnect the hood shocks. You should also have a friend in place to hold the hood once you have removed the hood bolts. The hood shocks are attached to the hood by a clip. Pull up on the clip with a flat head screwdriver and remove the hood shocks. There are four 10 mm bolts that attach the hood hinge to the hood that must be removed. There is also a 10 mm bolt holding the ground wire to the hood hinge that must be removed. Disconnect the washer fluid hose from the washer fluid pump. Total time for hood removal should be no more than 15-20 minutes.
