Different Types of Gears and their Uses

A gear is a rotating circular machine part having cut teeth or, in the case of a cogwheel or gearwheel, inserted teeth, which mesh with another toothed part to transmit torque and speed. The basic principle behind the operation of gears is analogous to the basic principle of levers. There are many different types of gears such as: Spur Gear, Helical Gear, Gear Rack, Bevel Gear, Spiral Bevel Gear, and Screw Gear.
