yeah he's small but it looks like he's someone that can potentially score and you know help uh help Mechov maybe help

uh bring in Kurakov in a few years yeah I mean Shabbanov is he's really the

prototypical like KHL free agent uh lottery ticket he he can there's

definitely a chance that he can be a middle six like 50 point scorer in the NHL who's like a spark plug and and

really fun to watch he's a very interesting player he has some very interesting highlight reels right so it

would be it's intriguing and obviously it doesn't cost you anything so if he is to come over I mean you can cut bait

I've seen Nick Heg play i think he's he's pretty solid um for if you're

they've got these prospects in Lehigh Valley that need ice time why would you get Nick Hey like Risto is going to miss a couple weeks at the beginning of the

don't know it just if you were trading out a defenseman I guess but trading out

any of the defenseman for Nick Hey would be a loss to the Flyers like maybe Igor Zamula is the only one where one for one

continue to say something about I'm not exactly sure that the future of Emil Andre is necessarily as secure as

really looking to fill that role unless he totally you know just proves that he cannot

step in and take it i think Andre is going to have a tough time getting back into that top six and not just being a

fringe piece 78 who comes in alongside let's say a Hunter McDonald uh when when

the team has injuries right i think he's he's closer to that classification within the organization than he is like

somebody who they want to maybe promote up to the top four at some point um but

they're more neutral uh Sanheim is a big guy but doesn't necessarily play that way and you don't know as as we said

have gotten really interesting for me um uh probably about a month and a half ago I I felt like I had a pretty good

consensus on like the top five players in the draft uh at the top Schaefer is

going one Misa is going two bar it's probably a 95% that Misa is going two at

this point three I more so put Porter Martone there because I thought that the fit with the

Blackhawks put him alongside Bard as a big playmaker i think it's just really harmonious fit there for the team and

somewhere else look towards a day or a fondelle due to the fact that Hagens is kind of just a repetition of Clayton

Keller and Logan Culie they already have two guys of similar archetype so for

and how they unfold these bigger guys up the middle just seem to be growing in value your Fondell's of the world he

looks like he's at least a strong consideration for the Blackhawks at

three if not the pick um and and your Caleb Denoier of the world who had a

good mem Cup with with London uh with Monton they lost to London um he had a

good mem Cup with Monton and and has risen up some boards just as being a big guy who's kind of good at everything and

not great at anything and he started to to jump up boards to around the four five spot that I didn't necessarily

think he was going to get to i always thought he was going to be closer to like the 78 nines

that leaves the possibility that I didn't think was going to be really possible and that's James Hagens falling

to the Flyers at number six higgins was at one point the number one prospect in this draft and by a pretty wide margin

um he has lost that distinction after a year at Boston College which he had a

point per game but he was overshadowed by Gabe Perau and Ryan Leonard to a pretty heavy degree um and a lot of

scouts have soured on him especially being a bit smaller up the middle as a center and it seems like teams are going

to pass on him now i don't know if it's enough to get him from where I thought he was going to go which was 34 down to

six because to me it just seems like Nashville should take him like if he gets to Nashville it should be a really

easy pick for them to just take the most skilled player given that Nashville has

never really had uh a guy that was a super talented center you know they're

they're working with Ryan O'Reilly as their 1C right now that's that's a much different archetype than than Hagen's

and that just to wrap things up here as I go on my long longest tangent of the episode hopefully um

that to me screams Hagens there but with Barry Trotz as I was talking to Ryan um

prior to the show beginning with Barry Trotz as the GM his or just the the

Predators philosophy in general the last two years they've taken Jagor Surin out

of the KHL and they've also taken um Matthew Wood matthew Wood's 6'4 Surin

6'2 and really mean really heavy plays a big game i can really see them valuing

Martone over Hagens for that simple reason that they really want to make a big power for it and try to build one

see anywhere like the difference between Fondell and Denoier is like teamtote team preference on where they played and

scouting in the top five because they just didn't think they were going to have that option so you know maybe they

fell in love with Brady Martin because they thought he would be available in the teens where they would have been drafting um I know you I know you said

Daniel Boot or Butt in the Utah system i don't He's a big guy right but I don't

think he plays center um I don't think he did i thought he was a winger winger

well now we've got a really difficult conversation to have i think I think it has more posh probability to be Martone

again as as Gilb said if you want a guy who's gonna turn it around right right away you could maybe put Porter Martone

in the NHL after his college year next year like if you let him in go to college and and bring him in um at the

end of the season after the college season ends if you're hopefully you know as the Predators hope to are going on a

playoff push um that could be feasible probably more so than Hagens and and

Denoya especially like Marton is probably the closest player in this draft who is like ready for the NHL yeah

he could play schaefer missed all season there's no way he's NHL ready he's a string bean like he's going back to the

CHL no question misa maybe cuz he tore it up in the O and like I would put Misa

in the NHL i just think it would be more difficult for him to adjust as a center right off the bat then it would be

Marone as like a third line winger think he could be like Quinton Biffield like if a certain a type of mold obviously

Biffield was the center but like the big guy who isn't necessarily physical yet because he hasn't learned how to be but

he's got the puck the puck skills and his skating is a bit weak but he's got the puck skills that he can at least be

a contributor if you wanted him to it's tough but like Hagens there's no shot i

There's no world I see Hagens making the NHL next year um
